Wedding Tips

Envision getting ready on your big day with your closest friends and family, listening to your favorite music– people are relaxed and laughing as they get their hair and makeup done. While you're sipping on mimosas, your photographer and videographer are capturing every memory being made. Every bubble of laughter is followed by the soft click of a camera lens. Sounds like a dream, huh? All of this can happen with the proper planning.

Laying out a guideline of what will happen before the ceremony, complete with all vendors’ contact information included, can help you have peace of mind the day will flow as it should.

Our brides have access to our Black Swan Bride Guide which gets sent out upon booking your wedding day. This Bride Guide includes all kinds of helpful information for leading up to the wedding day, so things operate seamlessly. We've included some additional tips here, so your glam can go smoothly!

The night before the wedding, make sure to drink plenty of water and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate your skin before bed! Using an overnight mask to boost your hydration is a great option. The morning of the wedding, use an exfoliant your skin knows and loves (this part is crucial!) After you’ve exfoliated in the shower, indulge in your whole skincare routine. If you use gua sha tools or jade rollers, feel free to pop those in the freezer while you're in the shower so they can cool down and help de-puff any areas of the skin. If your bridesmaids are staying with you, feel free to have a mini spa session and indulge in your prep together! Be sure to utilize an ultra hydrating lip balm that morning as well.

What do you wear while getting ready?

While you're getting ready, wear something you feel comfortable in. There are tons of cute and affordable bridal sets (pjs, silk dresses, robes) that are not only comfy, but allow you to feel a little extra pampered and typically button up so it won’t disturb your hair or makeup! You can find these on amazon, estsy, FashionNova, Shein, etc. There are plenty of options for getting ready– rock a satin robe for a luxurious look or a matching pajama set with your girls! We recommend staying away from anything that you have to pull over your head, as it could interfere with your hair or makeup after it's been done.

Have Plenty of Food For You and Your Crew

Your wedding morning is going to fly by but taking the time to have a filling, nutritious breakfast and/or lunch options sets you and your wedding party up for success. We suggest: sandwiches, salads, fruits, and veggies platters, yogurt, and granola bars. Preordering from local restaurants or catering saves you time and allows everyone to stay present to enjoy having their glam team pamper them.

Make a Plan For Your Phone

While you might be tempted to keep your phone with you at all times, it can be overwhelming. You’ll most likely get a slew of congratulatory messages and phone calls, as well as questions from family, friends, VIPS, and vendors. We suggest making a plan on when you should check and be on your phone and designating someone in your group to vet any incoming texts and phone calls.

Delegate Tasks to Your Wedding Party

You’ve poured your heart and soul into planning your wedding, and the day of, you deserve to relax and breathe easily. Delegating smaller tasks to your friends and family members keeps things manageable for the group and takes so much weight off your plate. These can be minor tasks that might not sound like much, but can make a big difference! For example, ask one of your friends to put together a playlist, ask another to handle setting up the food, and so on.

Our job is to make sure your glam experience not only allows you to look and feel beautiful, but that the experience is enjoyable. These recommendations might be the cherry on top of your already perfect day so you can be present and enjoy the day you’ve been planning for!
